The district’s fiscal instability was not of the teachers’ making but of the S.R.C.'s. Over time, the teachers have sacrificed much and have thus done our part. We should not be held hostage either by Ackerman's mistakes or anyone else's. So here's what should be done:

1. Turn the control of the schools over to a democratically elected school board.

2. Close the charters. Too many have proven susceptible to fraud.

3. Fire the morbidly top-heavy central administration.

4. FORENSICALLY AUDIT DISTRICT FINANCIALS retroactively 8 years to substantively root out waste, fraud and abuse.

As hard-working and productive members of society, we deserve a city government and school system which cleave well to common sense, live within their means and treat people (including teachers) fairly and professionally. People need to wise up!
